Sewing and quilting her whole life, Robin began ” thread painting” in the early “90”s because of her love of embroidered fabric and her “lack of funds” for an embroidery machine. She was a farmer by trade, and milked cows for 20 yrs and also, along with her husband David, developed and built a large boarding , lessons, and training stable for horses. Irish Creek Stables was sold in 2015 to their daughter, Amy Garber, and continues today as a very successful equine facility.
Always residing in the beautiful countryside of Berks County, Pennsylvania, she currently lives on a smaller farm a few miles away from the original homestead. Her quilted works revolve around horses, dogs, cows, and barns, as well as the wonderful landscapes surrounding her home.
She has developed techniques to teach “thread painting using the large selection of panels and novelty prints available on the market today, and loves enhancing panels and prints with her unique stamp of creativity while also taking on commissioned assignments.
Her most notable piece remains as the portrait of “Wimpys Little Chic, the highest money winning horse to date in the National Reining Horse Association.
It was featured in Oklahoma City in 2014, when she was commissioned to do another portrait of another famous deceased stallion, that was donated and auctioned off to benefit the National Reining Horse Association.
The “Wimpys Little Chic” portrait was a finalist at the Virginia Quilt Extravaganza in 2013, and also won a Faculty Award at the MQX Festival in New Hampshire that same year. Her various quilts and wall hangings have found homes across the Unites States and Germany.
Currently, Robin is busy creating samples of her new ideas for classes that she teaches in several shops in Eastern Pennsylvania. Threadwork by Robin, is also a vendor at several large horse shows across the country and at several Equine Expos.
She ABSOLUTELY loves meeting and talking to fellow quilters wherever she goes, and demands to see any of their “show and tell” beautiful works of their own, before beginning any of her shows or workshops.
In her appearances at shops, workshops, shows, and guilds, she strives to “inspire and motivate” others to have the courage to put their visions onto fabric with thread. Whether its tweaking a pattern, panel, print, or quilt block , Robin wants to teach all the wonderful people she gets to meet, how to create their “very own” masterpiece.
Robin invites you to share your vision of your perfect piece. There are tons of styles and fabrics to choose from in the creation process. She can create all types of custom quilts, t-shirt quilts, pillows, runners, make up bags, and awards for your personal gifts, associations or clubs.
Feel free to contact Robin to discuss your ideas and see your pieces magically come to life or sign up for one of her classes.
